Botulismus is a disease caused by Clostrodium botilinum neurotoxin that blocks releasing of acetylcholine on presinaptik and cholinergic terminal of the autonomous nerves of the neuromuscular junction, irreversibly. Intoxication generally occurs with taking oral home made canned products (rarely with commercial ones) that are contaminated with bacteria. We present clinical and electrophysiological findings of 6 cases from the same family whom developed blurred vision, weakness, swallowing difficulty, respiratory distress after eating the home-made canned purslane prepaired by boiling.
