Evaluation of LDL apheresis treatment in an adolescent patient with familial hypercholesterolemia performed coronary by-pass surgery

Familial hypercholesterolemia is a an autosomal dominant disease characterized by increased plasma levels of cholesterol, skin xanthomas, coronary artery disease and early death occur during childhood. Patients with familial hypercholesterolemia patients, unlike the patients with heterozygous hypercholesterolemia, often resistant to diet and drug therapy and therefore also need additional treatment methods. In this study, we present LDL apheresis theraphy after the coronary bypass in an adolescent patient having chilhood coronary artery disease because of familial hypercholesterolemia.
