Giant ekstrahepatic intrabdominal hydatic cyst causing mechanical intestinal obstruction

Hydatid disease is most commonly seen in the liver and lungs, but rarely in the spleen, kidney, pancreas, ovaries and abdominopelvic cavity. Uncomplicated cysts are usually asymptomatic. Most symptoms are mainly due to complications and also if cyst enlarge symptoms may occur due to mass effect.

In this article a giant intraabdominal extrahepatic hydatic cyst causing mechanical intestinal obstruction and the treatment is presented with the view of the literature.
