ABSTRACT

Hepatic nonparasitic cysts are a group of heterogenous lesions regarding pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis and surgical requirements. Most of the cysts are benign abd asymptomatic. Simple cysts are usually solitary adn uniloculated. Another important group of cysts are biliary cystadenomas which are premalignant requiring surgical excision. Caroli’s disease is a congenital malformation characterised by multifocal dilation of segmental bile ducts.

Diagnosis of hepatic cystic diseases is challenging regarding treatment modalities. In this article approach to hepatic hydatid disease is discussed.
