ABSTRACT

Objective:

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of maternal supine and left lateral positions using umbilical artery resistance measurements.

Material and Methods:

38 pregnant women between 28-40 weeks were included in the prospective observational study. Umbilical artery resistance index was measured using doppler ultrasound.

Results:

The average resistance index in the supine position was 0.03 units higher than the measurement taken while in left lateral position. This difference is statistically significant (p=0.007).

Conclusion:

There is higher umbilical artery resistance in the maternal supine position compared to the maternal left lateral position.
