ABSTRACT

The ophthalmologists who want to make keratoplasty within the borders of Turkey have some legal rights and duties. To make them remember these rights and duties and to protect them from punishment and to teach them the rules of correspondence with the eye banks, the laws of T.C and H.M and the forms of USA Eye Bank Association, Istanbul Medicine Lions Eye Bank, Haseki Eye Bank were explained. The principles of form filling, medical factors affecting the quality of the cornea as well as success of the operation and the legal and medical facts that the surgeon must take into consideration were indicated. The meticulous studies of the eye banks to protect the high standards were pointed out. Lastly, the ophthalmologists were advised to work with experienced and reliable eye banks.
