ABSTRACT

Inguinal hernia sacs may contain all abdominal organs including the stomach. The frequency of perforated appendix involvement is even lower. Herein we report a case of perforated appendicitis accompanied by strangulated inguinal hernia. A 58 year-old male admitted to hospital with 6-hour pain and swelling in the right groin. Diagnosis was strangulated inguinal hernia. Right inguinal incision was done. After the dissection of the hernia sac, perforated appendix and intraabdominal abscess were found. Because of the findings in the operation, median laparotomy was done below the umblicus. Appendectomy, abscess drainage and hernia repair were done. Patient was discharged without any complication.
